Maya Lin is an extremely successful designer and well known environmentalist. All of her 3D and architectural works convey strong messages which further demonstrate how everything she does is completed with the utmost care to either work with the environment or outline its raw power and beauty.

My favourite pieces of her works are those that incorporate layering several pieces of a material together; although it could be seen as simplistic it also looks really effective. I would really like to experiment using this technique within my own work and explore the use of topographic maps. Topographic maps are an understated yet effective way of combining cartography within design and the ways in which you could use such a map are extremely diverse meaning the work of artists that use topography varies widely.
